linkTo(original)
10/04/14Yesterday, I set up agents to export their children formatted by another template with "linkTo(title)" (you can tell I got hooked on the "linkTo" idea).
I noticed the children of the agents were exporting with links that led to a subfolder of the agent. It makes sense. Only, as the exports generated no subfolders, there was no subfolder to go to.
For now, there's not so many notes, so going into the HTML and editing the references isn't a big deal. But as this site grows, each update would mean more editing that would eventually become impractical. Especially for something like the site's Post History.
I'll save my rant about the Tinderbox inline help file for a later date. Some of that's Apple's fault, anyway (like the part where you can't search a page for a word). The minimal explanations in the help file eventually drove me to the Tinderbox forums. A quick search eventually revealed "linkTo(original)".
I'm a writer and a designer, and the first to admit I'm out of my element when it comes to coding. However, the time lost finding that makes me wish there was some easier way to find/learn about the "code" side of Tinderbox. Setting up more complex search functions is still way beyond me.
Well, better or worse, Tinderbox is like that cranky old man in the metal shop down the street. Obscure, kind of mean and scary at first, and often hard to work with. But once you get to know him, his knowledge and skills are indispensable.
